I already mentioned this place near The Maple Leaf music club. Uptown on Oak Street toward the levee. Excellent food, fun, intimate atmosphere, a real mixed bag of patrons, casual dress, very reasonably priced, credit cards accepted. Don’t let the rough exterior fool you, this place serves great food at a great value. Tried the swordfish, it’s tremendous. All seafood is freshly caught from the Gulf of Mexico that day. The bread pudding desert is excellent too. The Alligator Cheesecake is Awesome too. Sounds weird, tastes great. This place is funky and fun at the same time. Doesn't take reservations for fewer that five people, but get there early because the wait can be a bit lengthy. The great news is that IT's Worth The Wait! You always end up meeting fun people in the bar or on the sidewalk as you wait for a table. You can even go next door to the Maple Leaf club and they'll come to get you. One last thing, the little pick up in the front of the resturant, they actually serve diner at a table in the rear bed. Fun.
