At 4133 South Carollton Avenue, this is one of my favorites, located in the mid-city section of NOLA on Carollton Ave about 15 minutes from the FQ. It's a combination bowling alley with live music and the music is generally great! When the music starts up they turn the lights down so that you're bowling in nearly black light conditions, a real kick to bowl and listen to the music in the same room. You'd never have a boring moment in this place, even if bowling isn't your thing, do it anyhow, it's what NOLA's do. The music generally starts at about 10:00 pm and if you arrive then the wait for a lane or two lanes in your case will be about 30-40 minutes. It's cheap, generally $5-10 cover, beers are about $2-2.50 and the bowling is $12 per hour, a buck for shoe rental. (504) 482-3133, www.rockandbowl.com
