Talk about local family owned eateries, this is one great example. Established in 1919 by Joe Casamento the restaurant is covered inside and out with spotless tiles as was the tradition in his native Italy. Unlike most New Orleans seafood restaurants, they use their own signature “pan bread” instead of French bread which gives a really special taste to their oyster poyboys. The gumbo is delicious. One quirky thing that your find here as in several New Orleans restaurants is that you walk through the kitchen to get to the rest rooms. They are closed in the summer June-August. The rest of the year Casamento serves up it’s great seafood
